4. Imogene

You were just another scribble

On the back of a notepad

He picked you up and told you you were

So much more than that

Had a role that you would fit right in

You weren’t eager to complain

High of borderlining sin but

He was just a friend

Who made up fairytales to justify his ends

He made it easy to pretend

While you were chasing brothers’ backs

He was facing fire for all his acts

I’ll bet he never told you that

Imogene

You never meant to cause a scene

Imogene

You never thought he’d make you cuss or scream

Well you could be a soldier or a welcome mat

If he just gave a glance

And you’d set fire to every treasure

If he was the one who gave you the match

Imogene

You called it love love love

Even if you weren’t his

Love love love

And he would

Love love love

To love you every way you

Couldn’t love

And you tried to understand his words

Look beyond to what they really meant

But no matter how you’d twist or bend

His words kept on stinging though he

Smiled with every one of his attacks

And all the while you smiled on back

Imogene

You never meant to cause a scene

Imogene

You never thought he’d make you cuss or scream but

In the walls you built yourself from

Promises and empty heads you

Made yourself a comfy bed

With pillows much too soft to hear the

Horses hooves as he went riding

Off off

Imogene

You never meant to cause a scene

Imogene

You thought his hands were oh so clean

Imogene

He went and tangled all your seams

Imogene

You never thought he’d make you cuss or scream
